The Story Behind Renée's Cousins

The creation for Renée's Cousins came about during a night of browsing for children's content for my three-year-old daughter Renée on YouTube.

After sifting through countless videos of children singing, dancing, and having fun, Renée seemed slightly disengaged by what she saw. I asked what was wrong, and she replied, "It seems like the kids having fun look nothing like me." At that point, I felt like something needed to change.

Studies show that there has been a vast disproportion of BIPOC (black, Indigenous, and people of color) representation of children's programming across multiple channels of media.
